1. Have you seen any holiday commercials yet? No. I also don't watch much commercial television, so that has a lot to do with it, no doubt.

2. Will you or have you ever participated in Black Friday? Hell no!

3. Do you love or despise holiday leftovers? Love them the first 2 days. After that, they go to the dog. Except stuffed ham. Mmmmmm, any day for that.

4. Have you seen any (non-commercial, i.e. store) holiday lights yet? No, thankfully. There are 12 days of Christmas and none of them are in November.

5. Have you been good to Santa’s way of thinking?

1. With Halloween coming this next week, do you have any seasonal activities you're planning on doing for the holiday?

Well, as my kids are all grown and there are no grands yet, I'll probably just carve a Jack o'Lantern and then bake my daughter's birthday cake.

2. What is your favorite Halloween or dress up party costume you've had?

...Er. It's hard to narrow them down. For sheer fun, though, Tom Baker's Doctor (4th Doctor Who).

3. Which do you like better, apple cider or pumpkin spice flavoring?

Apple cider.

4. What is your favorite scary movie and why? The Exorcist. That is the one movie that will still give me the shivers and make me sleep with the lights on for 2 weeks after watching it.

5. What traditionally "scary" monster or fear do you think is the most overrated and why?

Zombies. They've been done to death (pun partially intended).

1. Have you ever bobbed for Apples?

Yes. It was a tradition in my house during our Halloween parties. I can't say I was fond of it, the water was always cold.

2. Do you like a regular or hard apple cider?

I like both. We used to get cider from a local orchard every fall, and near the end of the gallon, it was already turning hard on it's own. Regular cider today won't do that, as it's been pasturised sufficiently to make it a strong apple juice. I miss the days of the cloudy, caramel ciders.

3. Do you have a special type of apple that you prefer over others?

Honeycrisps Ginger Golds are my favourite. Tangy-sweet with a great crispness. Save the Delicious varieties for apple sauce, please.

4. Have you ever made baked apples?

Yes. They are a classic fall staple in my house.

5. Who is the apple of your eye?

My Chessie, Fletch. He's the best dog and a boon companion.

1. Do you have the urge to do a Fall/Spring cleaning as soon as the weather turns?  Normally, yes.  I like to do a spring and a fall cleaning, to get the old energy out and the new in, but this year, school has already mentally exhausted me to the point that I don't want to do anything on my free time.

2. What tells you that the season (a certain smell, a certain taste, that sort of thing) has changed?
The quality of the sunlight. Sister sun changes how she shines as she moves through the sky.

3. What do you look forward to the most with the change of seasons?
Fresh energetic starts.

4. What is something that you probably should accomplish but won’t this season?
I don't know yet. I haven't yet sat down to plan out my Q4 goals.

5. What is the most enjoyable part of the oncoming season for you?
Nothing. This year, I want to hold onto summer. I was finally getting back on track with my core self and recharging my batteries. Summer was fantastic. Then I went back into the classroom, and after  14 days with students, I'm exhausted and ready to throw in the towel. To keep myself forward thinking and hopeful, I'll be trying local apple orchards for their seasonl selections.

1. Is there a smell that will immediately sicken you? Axe Body Spray -- any variety.

2. When you want quiet, where do you go? Into the woods, or the beach. Failing that, my bedroom.

3. Do you need/prefer total darkness when you sleep? I don't need total darkness, but I do prefer it more dark than light.

4. What is your least favorite taste? Vomit. Bit grotty, I know, but true.

5. How heavily do you rely upon your sense of touch? It depends on the situation. At work, very little (schools = perpetual germ factories) but at home, a lot. I get good first impressions with the health of things with touch.

1. Do you mostly prepare your meals at home or do you eat out more? I mostly prepare my own meals at home. It's just better quality food, and I know my kitchen is clean.

2. Is there a time of day when you are more likely to buy food already prepared? After a stressful day at work. Rotisserie chickens are life-savers when I'm a crispy critter.

3. What is your average weekly grocery bill (for how many people)? What is your total restaurant/fast food bill for an average week? It depends on how many staples I need to restock on, really. Generally, it's about $75-80 for four of us.

4. What is your favorite meal to prepare at home? Slow-cooker chili. Or chicken soup. Or Maryland Fried Chicken with gravy. Or anything done on the Weber grill.

5. What is your favorite meal to order in a restaurant? Steak. (Shades of Ron Swanson, lol.)
